CURRENT PROJECTS
Community transformation begins with a simple decision to partner with us in our mission to help the voiceless.
At Ormee Ministries, we exist to give the Maasai children a hopeful, vibrant future. Through education, proper health and nutrition, and the power of Christ, we’re devoted to transforming the community one voice at a time.
When you give to Ormee, girls can escape child marriage and receive an education, boys can pursue options beyond herding goats, and children can grow up in a community where their voices aren’t just heard — they’re valued.
GENERAL FUND
The general fund helps us provide an atmosphere for Maasai children to learn, dream and thrive. Donations of any amount allow us to operate all aspects of the ministry, including facilities, maintaining our well, new classrooms, books, and so much more!
WIDOWS
At Ormee, we walk with Maasai widows towards a life full of hope and knowledge that they are deeply loved by their Creator. Through a program of training, discipleship and small business initiatives, they are able to provide for themselves and their children. Most importantly, we help them find their voice in their community!
TEACHERS
Ormee is blessed to have the most dedicated and amazing teachers! Your donations help us provide the wages and food they need to live and thrive in a very harsh environment.
MEDICAL
Ormee Ministries now operates a health clinic on the school campus. As the only provider of health services in our immediate area, it is imperative that we keep a constant stock of medications and supplies. Donations to this ministry also ensure we have a doctor or nurse on site to provide compassionate care.
NUTRITION & GOATS
Preparing and feeding 600+ plus meals a day is quite a task, requiring the work of two cooks and the purchase and transport of large amounts of food staples each day. The nutritionally enriched porridge and meals we serve are a lifeline for our students and their families. In addition, we also have goats and sheep, which allow us to have a steady supply of milk. The herd is also shared with vulnerable women in the community.
CHRISTMAS FOOD
Every December Ormee Ministries hosts a Christmas party for our students and families, staff and community! Every family is sent home with a basket full of food to enjoy during the break from school. This is vitally important, so the children don’t suffer from malnutrition while they are away from school. Only $5 per basket allows us to share the joy of Jesus’ birth with a family!
DORMITORY – Fully Funded!
Thank you for your generosity! Our most expensive project is the building of a dorm. Although our dorm will be a very basic structure, it will be comfortable and secure, with indoor plumbing. It will house 50 – 60 female students. Ormee School needs a dorm for many reasons, but the top reason is the girls’ safety. Many walk long distances to and from school, and many dangers are associated with those long walks. Also, the ability to house them on school property will help the girls prepare for important exams. Living in the dorm gives them opportunities for tutoring and extra studying and elevates their overall health and hygiene.
1 dorm = $15,000
WATER – Fully Funded!
We are so thankful that our pump and water supply are fully funded. Water is essential, and we are thankful to the nonprofit Maji Hope for digging our well!
